New Trustees Workshop

Volunteering as an independent school trustee can be a deeply rewarding position. In this workshop you will explore your new roles and responsibilities, and learn from the experience of others who have worked with and on boards.

Meade Thayer, Executive Director of PNAIS, along with a Erica Hamlin, Head of School of University Prep (WA) and Sonja Gustafson, former Board Chair, Meridian School (WA) will lead this workshop to orient new board members to the roles, responsibilities and good governance practices of independent school trustees. Heads of School or Directors, along with new trustees, current trustees and Board Chairs, are all invited to attend.

This workshop has been offered informally over the past several years, and has been such a strong success, that we would like to encourage even greater participation from across the PNAIS region.

 Sessions will address:

• What Trustees Need to Know from the Board Chair’s perspective
• What Trustees Need to Know from the Head’s perspective &
• Design of the Partnership: Theory and Practice

Transportation

West Sound Academy has generously made transportation is available from the Bainbidge Island Ferry Terminal for anyone wishing to come over without a car. Please contact Emily McGrath (emcgrath@pnais.org) if you are interested in taking advantage of this transportation option.

Cancellation Policy

Substitutions may be made any time prior to the conference. Written cancellations received by September 17, 2010 are eligible for a refund after a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations received after September 17th are ineligible for any refund.
