Difficult Conversations on Tolerance and Race: Train the Trainer

Workshop Description

Whether you are a beginner facilitator or a seasoned presenter looking to sharpen your skills, this workshop is for you! Through engaging and interactive exercises, participants will learn strategies and tips on how to successfully present sensitive information to a wide audience of learners–becoming skilled at sharing their knowledge of diverse cultures and race related topics with others. Participants will leave with tools to successfully facilitate courageous conversations about race.

Learning Outcomes; Participants will…

1) Gain tips for creating a welcoming environment;

2) Learn ways to establish credibility and build relationships with their participants;

3) Develop skills for avoiding common pitfalls;

4) Cultivate their ability to address cross-cultural tensions and conflict as it arises;

With Facilitator – Dr. Caprice Hollins

Dr. Hollins was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She received a B.A. in psychology from Seattle University and an M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Multicultural and Community Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology―LA. She is licensed in the Washington state.

Dr. Hollins has over 15 years of experience working with ethnically diverse populations, providing mental health services, facilitating workshops and teaching graduate courses as an adjunct professor at several local universities. She currently works as an assistant professor at Mars Hill Graduate School.

After serving as the Director of Equity, Race & Learning Support for Seattle Public Schools, she started Cross Cultural Connections, LLC providing culturally relevant professional development and consulting services to organizations seeking to improve their skills in effectively engaging all cultures.

Dr. Hollins delivered the keynote address at the 2009 PNAIS Creating Inclusive Communities workshop, and we are thrilled to have her back.

  • $95 Early Bird for PNAIS Schools By November 12, 2010*
  • $145 Late for PNAIS Schools After November 12, 2010
  • $175 Non-PNAIS Schools

Please note there is an additional $25 materials charge for all registrants

* To receive the early bird discount, your registration must be complete and payment must be postmarked or received by November 12, 2010.

  • For registrations completed by mail or online registrations with payment by check, payment must be postmarked by November 12, 2010.
  • Online registrations completed by credit card must be completed by 11:59pm on November 12, 2010.

Cancellation Policy

Substitutions may be made any time prior to the conference. Written cancellations received by November 22, 2010 are eligible for a refund after a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations received after November 22, 2010 are ineligible for any refund.
