Lake Washington Girls Middle School seeks a part-time business manager to join its collaborative and small administrative team. The successful business manager candidate will be a positive, detail-oriented, organized, and highly motivated individual with skill and experience in school business management. Strong interpersonal skills are required, with an ability to interface with a diverse cross-section of people within the school community (teachers, staff, parents, students, finance committee, accountant). The business manager has oversight of the school's accounting, insurance, benefits, financial record keeping, and financial reporting. The business manager reports to the head of school, works closely with the school’s accountant, and serves as a resource to the finance committee of the board of directors to ensure that the school's mission, operations, and strategic objectives are met. The business manager works closely with the head of school to monitor the budget and make budget forecasts and must be flexible in contributing to daily problem solving and peripheral roles inherent in a small independent school.



Part Time (40%) Position (approximately 16 hours/week, at least 3 days/week)

Position begins: September 2010 (with some flexibility on start date) 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of LWGMS
  • BA, preferably in Accounting/Business Management or CPA with 5+ years experience in accounting/bookkeeping
  • Excellent bookkeeping skills
  • Non-profit managerial experience, preferably in an independent school setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized 
  • Strong skill in QuickBooks and MS Office (especially Excel); database experience preferred
